I C No — L’enfer des autres, c’est moi [Black Metal, Review]

I C No is a new formation from Switzerland/France that recentely released their debut EP "L'enfer des autres, c'est moi". According to the band they claim a contemporary black metal that demands the unveiling of the darkest mechanisms of our time, such as anagement, political idiocracy, ecocide, climate change, digital addiction, modern perversion. With this attitude I was excited to discover this new band and was positively impressed. Indeed, this is slow-mid tempo black metal featuring pretty diverse screaming througout the record. The sound is not polished, but is not raw either. The record contains a lot of chanching guitar riffs as well as a fair amount melodic licks. Alltogether it leaves an impression of a release on the intersection of different sub-genres of black metal, sometimes drifting towards atmospheric black sometime post-black metal. All the lyrics in French contribute to the unique atmosphere on the record - look forward to hear the next release.
